Apples
We produce export quality apples. These include Royal Gala, Sonya, Braeburn and Fuji.
Royal Gala - So named as they were a favourite of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. This well known variety is crisp and sweet. Available from late February to July.
Sonya - This new variety is a cross between Royal Gala and Red Delicious. Definitely the favourite with travellers who stop at our road side stall.
Braeburn - Another very well known variety. This is for apples lovers who like a bit of tartness.
Fuji - If you like sweet apples, try these. They are large sweet and crunchy.
Apples are usually available March through to November.
Peaches
Flamecrest - Traditional yellow flesh peach. Large, attractive and good to eat. Great for preserving. Free stone. Available early February
Tasty Gold - Large yellow flesh eating nectarine. The skin has a bright yellow background with bold red blush. Sweet and juicy. Available in late January.
Summerbright - Medium size yellow fleshed with an attractive bright yellow and red skin. Eat sweet and crunchy or soft and juicy when fully ripe. Available mid february.
Redfree - Yellow flesh free stone nectarine. Great to eat or preserve. Available mid February.
Black Amber - Large black fruit with yellow flesh. Very sweet and juicy when fully ripe. Mid February.
Fortune - Not as large as Black Amber but just as sweet and juicy. Late February.
Apples, Peaches and Nectarines are available at our stall. Our stall is on SH6 (Kawarau Gorge Road), 4km from Cromwell on the way to Queenstown.
